why the complications after heart surgery?
By
Question: my mother in law had a double bypass and a valve replaced in her heart 10 days ago. shes 67 years old and her heart was probably in poor condition because of an infection years ago. now, she is still in the hospital because there is water on her lungs and she needs a blood transfusion.
can someone explain how common or not these complications after surgery are? also, why would she need a blood transfusion?

She need a blood transfusion because she lost some blood or she is anemic. She probably was not in great shape before the surgery if she need a double bypass and history of an infection. Water in the lungs is called pneumonia. It is common to catch a virus or bacteria in a compromised state.
I hope this help.

These are complications that can go with any heart surgery. And, having a weak heart even before the surgery was done places her at a higher risk for complications. Her stay in the hospital may be longer than a normal stay but hopefully, she will come through this and be able to recuperate at home.

The problem is quite common and is because cardio surgeons do not seem to really get it. When the heart muscle is weakened, this sends a signal to the kidneys that the body is dehydrated, even though it most likely is not. So what do nurses and doctors do with these patients, they put an I.V. in the arm and put fluids into the body. This doesn’t fix the problem, it makes it worse by causing fluids to build up in the body. Since the lungs are the dumping ground for toxins in the intestines and the drugs being used in the hospitals are damaging the liver and KIDNEYS due to the overloaded liver toxicity, this further complicates the problem.
This whole problem is called a “doctor induced illness” and is being practiced more than you can imagine today. Congestive heart failure can be brought on by this hydration issue. If your mother-in-law is following the typical nutritional advice from doctors today, by lowering cholesterol, without addressing the real issue of nanobacteria attacking the arterial walls, kidneys, and pancreas, and NOT eating good saturated fats, and the whole host of recommendations that are actually damaging the body, it’s no wonder she is having these problems.
She needs nutritional support that will strengthen her body, not a bunch of drugs that are damaging it. Yes, some of the things doctors are doing are necessary to keep her alive in emergency situations, but doctors have NO clue what they are talking about when it comes to nutrition, NONE. I would demand the doctors do a PCR blood test and to look specifically for that nanobacteria because if sound like that is the “root cause” of the problem and then get her to a Certified Nutritional Therapist that understands QRA testing that can work along with her doctor(s) to make her healthy, instead of that “Make Believe Health” that doctors provide with drugs.
Many cardio surgeons are NOT even aware of the dehyration issue caused by weak heart muscles and how it affects the kidneys. Find one that understands how the human body works. It is only logical sense that she needs good nutrition to build up her strength. The heart runs of saturated fats and when these doctors tell you not to eat saturated fats, they need to tell you specifically which saturated fats are good and which are bad. All fats are a combination of fatty acids. Raw milk, for instance, has over 500 fatty acids in it. Breast milk, thought to be nature’s perfect food consists of aboutu 55% saturated fats, 35% mononusaturated fats, and 10 – 15% polyunsaturated fats. Your brain is almost completely made of saturated fats. Your heart runs on saturated fats. Even your body makes saturated fats for energy when you eat an excess of protein. So who are these people that are promoting this lunacy about “saturated fats?” Endoctrinated people, certainly NOT educated people.
good luck to you

Water on the lungs (pulmonary edma) is caused by the heart not pumping adequately and blood pools in the lungs. The reduced blood flow through the kidneys also causes the kidneys to retain water as they automatically control the fluids in the body. They read the reduced blood flow as dehydration. Typically, this is treated with reduced fluid and salt intake and diuretics. The most powerful / quickest way to administer diuretics is by IV. It makes you pee like a Rushing Race Horse.
Problems like this are not uncommon. She went through just about as major of a surgery as a person can get. The heart does not take too kindly to being handled much less cut and sewed back together.
Blood thinners do not thin the blood. They cause it to take longer for clots to form. Your mother in law is getting them most likely because artificial valves require it. Another reason is that the blood flow through her heart is so low that clots can form within the chambers which can be deadly. It’s called ventricular thrombosis. Blood thinners prevent these from forming.
I cannot speak to the transfusion. I know my surgery blood bill was about $19,000 so I figure it was more than a couple of quarts. Maybe she is a quart low. ( a little heart humor)
