Why does the United States government pay a salary to some medical specialists but not to others?

Question: Why does the United States government pay a salary to some medical specialists (.ie. general surgeon, pediatrician) but not to others (i.e. anesthesiologist, pathologist)?

Who told you this? Does the government make them work for free? I think we need a little more information here.

PROVE your allegations first, then ask WHY.
Why is it so difficult for people to understand this basic principle?

What “salary” are you talking about?

Unless they’re working for the government in some capacity… military, VA, etc., they’re not drawing a salary, as far as I know. And if they ARE working for the government, they do draw a salary, regardless of specialty.
