Which is better Health care administration or health information management?

Question: I want a career in health care, but no patient care-business side. Would a RHIA degree or a bachelor’s in Health Management be a better career step. I will eventually get my master’s.

I agree that health care administration and health information management are among good options for a career in the business side of health care. Health care administration is focused on the overall administration of the business of health care. Health information management is focused on management of health care using pertinent information; management of such information is vital to the success of health enterprises of substantial size. Because you plan to go on to get your masters, you might consider getting your bachelors in health care administration, and then specialize in some aspect of health information management for your masters. The masters degree is usually more specialized than the bachelors degree. I am not in the health care field, but I have experience advising higher management.
