B if you are talking quality

5

C…old folks cross the tex/mex border in droves to see doctors, dentists and get their meds…it’s pay as you go but cheaper

6

Why do you think so many Canadians come here for health care?

7

Definitely B. Canadians come over here to Detroit for medical care all the time. A system that involves personal choice is much better, and the UK and Canada are living proof. Look at cancer survival rates in the UK to get a clue.

8

Neither of those address the need for affordable health care in the US.

9

B.

and it’s not just people from Canada coming here. It’s people from ALL socialized countries and health care systems.

Well I do not see many people in Canada breaking down the doors to get over here. In fact polls show most are quite happy with the health care they get. Same goes for Europe where they also have a higher standard of living and they have a higher life expectancy. So I guess they are doing something right.

12

Fact: like 2000 people came over from Canada in 2008 for health services

13

B. Socialized medicine invariably creates a quota system for all procedures. That means that only a particular number of medical procedures are budgeted; waiting lists are created; procedures can become subject to the “survivability” factor: will the procedure significantly benefit the patient?
Countries with socialized health care are constantly at risk of their programs teetering on bankruptcy.

14

B.

15

The citizen who comes here does so for a few reasons, among them the fact that we have so many hospitals that have so many specialized treatments, their bills though are still paid for by their governments if agreed to beforehand.
You must be unaware of the fact that for many medical procedure that aren’t covered here, Americans do go overseas, they still have to pay for themselves as many insurers don’t allow treatment in hospitals not on their list.
Americans travel to Mexico and Thailand for surgeries they can’t afford here. American elderly take buses to Canada for drugs they can’t afford here.
There are reproductive treatments available in Europe that we don’t have.
The best hospitals and doctors in the world don’t do you any good if you can’t afford them in the first place.
And you don’t have to worry about a wait, because you can’t go to the doctor anyway.

If system is put together by moderates that know there a cost to everything B If put together by Conservatives that want to bleed system dry A shortly after passage. If put together by liberals that want to give everything away A in the long run. If insurance companies get more control over medical industry we are all screwed.

17

B. People who want socialized medicine are not thinking about quality of care or continued medical advancements and if they are, they are dreaming.

18

Of the options you have, it would be B. But loads of Americans do travel abroad for healthcare. http://www.nbr.co.nz/article/company-targets-americans-health-tourism-packages-32983 More than people from Europe travelling to the USA just for healthcare.

FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.

FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.

That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.

19

Neither. The correct answer is:

C) Americans traveling to developing countries in search of affordable, quality care.

Look up “medical tourism” on Google. It’s a thriving industry!
