What makes the Democrats think they are entitled to “free” health care?
By Editor
Question: First off the word “free” is a misnomer “Health Care” or any government run program is not free by any stretch of the imagination somebody always pays and in the US the bottom 40% pay nothing in taxes so that means the top 60% will be lugging them around like a huge gorilla on their backs. Secondly it is often said that “well look at Europe” my response is that “Europe” has implemented socialistic forms of government here in the USA we still have a Constitution and it is by no means a “socialistic” document and their is no provision in it for “free health care” . Thirdly countries under the “socialistic” banner are operating in the red are teetering on the brink of bankruptcy and are turning away from the “socialistic” model to embrace “capitalism” . They can no longer afford the costs and the citizens have had enough of paying taxes in the 45% to 70% range.
No Adam B people who spread lies and stand under false flags are the real disaster. If you had ever actually read the document and understood it from it true intentions you would know where the tenants of capitalism stood within it. Yet as a typical LIB you seize upon just one word called “welfare” and clap your hands and say ohh goodie goodie look what i get.

They’ve been raised to believe that they’re all unique and special, so they grow up with a sense of entitlement, believeing that they should be catered to and provided for.

40% of Americans don’t pay tax? I don’t believe it. Here in the UK, everyone does.

No one said it was free except right-wing extremists, and then only to make dishonest arguments like the one you’re making.
Capitalism isn’t anywhere in the Constitution. Go find it for me – I dare you. But Congressional spending to promote the general welfare IS in the Constitution.
This is not about being entitled. This is about not being stupid and doing something that works, because what we’re doing now sucks. Your dogmatic ranting is not a substitute for the simple fact that our health care system is a disaster, not a substitute for the simple fact that we spend more than any other country in the world on health care but get garbage in return.

Actually, Firstly, it is considered “Free” because in the UK, you can get hit by a bus and wake up in a hospital whether you are a homeless guy or a Billionaire. Now please tell me, what happens to a person who gets hit by a bus in the USA who doesn’t have insurance?
Secondly, yes, your constitution does not say anything about “free” health care, but it does not say as well that you have pay for health cover as well does it?
Thirdly, have a look at this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_public_debt
this is a list of countries by public debt as a percentage of their annual GDP
Oh look, The UK, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Iceland, Czech Republic all have a lower percentage public debt than the US. I will give you France though.
Look at this, the currect account balance.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_current_account_balance
look whose bottom? The United States and it just so happens the least socialist state in the EU (The UK) also has the largest currect account deficit out of the EU countries apart from Spain. Look whose 2nd, yes that’s right, germany.
I also enjoy paying 40% tax rate here in the UK, because i know i will be looked after by The Health Service which has been listed by the World Health Organization as BETTER than the USA. Even Saudi Arabia is said to have a better health system according to the WHO than the USA.
Also, there is NO evidence of countries in the EU becoming more Capitalist. Sure, the capitalist parties are gaining support, but that’s more about corrupt politicians rather than Policy and that is merely on projection of the EU elections, NOT the general elections. Socialist parties have taken a pro Europe support which many people disagree with, particularly in the UK, sweden, the netherlands and Denmark.
Also, in the UK, people have been asking for the nationalisation of the banks and the Railways and have been against the Privatisation of the Royal Mail. Does that make the people favour capitalism?

Yes, that’s a good question and one that many big businesses with their highly overpaid management people might give us the answer. They hire illegals and anyone else who will work for almost less than living wages and expect the tax payers to foot the bill for their health care and education. Maybe the Dems want that same health care even if it’s not as free as you have mentioned.

This is the classic “straw man” argument. You claim Democrats support something that they are not supporting, and then you try to demolish your phony argument. `

Of course it’s not free. Elsewhere in the world it is free at point of service – you can go to a hospital without your chequebook. Even assuming the bottom 40% do pay “nothing” in taxes the majority of tax revenue comes not from individuals but from corporate and sales tax.
The constitution makes no reference to socialist ideals – true. The constitution is pretty anti-standing army, as were many of the founding fathers; they much preferred the idea of a citizen’s militia. Yet the US has one of the largest standing armies in the world. The constitution is not a sacred document, as is evidenced by the number of amendments made to it.
The US is the country with the largest debt in the world. Kindly do not lecture us on debt.
The NHS is one of the most treasured of British institutions. The conservative party have had to promise not to cut funding, because they know that if they do it will be a HUGE vote loser. No party with any sense at all is ever going to try to do away with our socialised medicine – because we know that, despite its flaws, it works.
As for “more capitalist” – another UK example; the railways were privatised about 15 years ago. We were promised better service, more competition and lower prices. While services have improved slightly (mostly in terms of newer trains not in punctuality) prices have absolutely rocketed. It is getting so bad that many people are calling for the railways to be renationalised – in 2004 labour MPs voted 2:1 in favour of renationalisation, which was quashed by the transport minister.

You are talking about something you don’t know:
First you can’t say Europe health system there are a lot of differences between countries, in Italy UK and France hospitals are free, in Belgium where I live you pay a small amount.
There is nothing socialist in considering medical care as basic human right. The concept is simple: Private insurance can still exist for extras but to guarantee a basic, equal, decent and free medical care to everybody you need a public system, you pay and the day you need, the system is there for you, it doesn’t matter how ill you are.
With free medical care you avoid as well that people with contagious illness are infecting the others.

This is a blatant distortion. I am definitely in support of a single payer system, but I doubt if it can happen here. However I am hoping we can get a public option in the health care bill.
I seriously question your statistics and the only ones nattering about “free” health care are the people opposed to reform.
Your question is a right wing myth or misinformation.

Because their messiah told them so…and he would not lie …would he????

The democrats sold their vote fair and square. It’s only right that they should get paid.
