What Happens If You Take Add Medicine Without Having Add?
By
Question: One of my characters in my novel is medicated for ADD but she doesn’t have it.
What would happen to her? Would she be a robot? Would she throw up/die? SHe’s 9 years old.

In my experience as a teacher, children who were medicated for ADD but who actually had behavioral problems instead of an attention deficit were not helped at all by the medication, and the side effects were unpleasant enough that they did not like to take them, and the meds were discontinued within weeks.
They didn’t die or throw up, but they often felt as if they were walking around in a fog. One student said he just didn’t feel like he was taking part in life, like he was some one else, and he didn’t like that person because he wasn’t much fun.

she might “wigg out” a little bit…. i’ve been diagnosed with ADHD and i was prescriped to two adult medecines when i was 14… adderall and strattera….. both affected me negatively. the adderall made me a zombie and have no personality and the strattera made me horribly sick every time i took it, even if i took it with food. but seeing as how she DOESNT have ADD… it would probably make her hyper. thats what most people say when they took adderall and didnt have ADD

you get hyper and lose focus. ADD medication without ADD gives you the effect of having ADD, somewhat. Well, this is mainly for ADHD, but the medication is similar

she would become very hyper, loose her appetite, have racing thoughts and be twitchy
OH and she could also have a heart attack
