What do you think of this for a health care bill?
By
Question: First we eliminate medicare altogether. Then we use a sliding scale for premium payments. For example. Employers do not have to provide any health care benefits beyond work mans compensation. The gov. will pay for all premiums this way.
If you make 20 thousand or less the gov. pays 100%
If you make 20 -50 thousand the gov. pays 90%
If you make 50 – 80 thousand the gov. pays 80%
If you make 80 – 100 thousand the gov. pays70%
if you make 100 – 120 thousand the gov.pays 60%
If you make 120 -140 thousand the gov. pays 50%
And so on. This will be for eyes, dental and hospital, and doctors visits. with no expense to the person, or persons covered.
Gov. just pays the premiums to the insurance companies. and they pay the bills. that way gov. stays out of the way.
you would have to give up a lot just to stay below 20 thousand dollars.
Did you read the question very closely, I said the gov. pays the premiums to the insurance companies.
Where in this constitution does it mention health care?

Sounds to me like you are against any idea as long as it’s not yours. Sound to me like you must be a republican, or maybe a Joe Lieberdum.

I don’t want to have anything to do with the government controlling my health care. Nothing. Freedom is too precious to sell out.

People who have ridiculous health problems would then focus on making just under 20 thousand. No very good.

Slick scale, but lets figure out what you mean by ‘govt pays’.
1. Where does govt get its money? (theft, monetary inflation & debt)
2. Why is there a shortage of doctors? (over regulation of medical schools and clinics)
3. Why is there a shortage in new medicine? (govt favored medical companies, strict patent laws & the ‘war on drugs’)
4. Why does the FDA hold back life saving drugs? (patents and potential loss of profits?)
5. Why has medical care costs gone nowhere but up when our government has been up to its elbows in health care spending for 60+ years? Where would health care be if govt was not involved?

“Cash for clunkers” cost tax payers $24,000.00 for every $4,000.00 ‘given’ to new car buyers. Is 6x cost a deal?
I think the best bet is complete deregulation of everything medical. You see a boom in doctors, clinics, and medicines, and this means low prices for customers. Lets not forget about small local charities whos donations afford care for the most needy.

Absolutely incredible!

The flaw in your idea is that the government still has their fingers in it. That is the problem with any health care legislation.

Or the government can just go back to doing what they are permitted to do under Article I Section 8 of the Constitution and stay the heck out of health care.
Hey, I can dream, can’t I?

Sounds great except I don’t know if you mean the government pays the doctor, or if you mean the government pays the insurance industry.
Ever since the American heath insurance industry existed it’s been finding ways to take a bigger and bigger cut. Belgium bought Budweiser last year. And I think the American heath insurance industry just finished their full purchase of the U.S. Senate and President Obama, (whom I voted for and trusted) today December 14 2009, around 4pm D.C. time.
I can’t even tell you how long it’s going to take to wash that unclean feeling out.
I might be less disgusted if I caught sight of Jesus microwaving live gerbils or something.
Perhaps I should join in and just get an early start selling my soul to the health insurance industry now, if I can.
