She was suppose to place the cuff on his left arm, because it is closer to the heart and to her!

2

Because his arm is lower in the second one relative to his heart-so the pressure of the blood in that artery is higher than the first reading. Also because his arm is hanging in midair and he is leaning forward in the first reading (incorrect technique on her part). This video is a huge fail and should not be used for teaching purposes.

Her technique is absolutely wrong!

In the automated reading his arm is in a different position from the first reading! If your arm is held higher then your blood pressure in the brachial artery will be lower (it’s relative to the heart!!)… Not to mention that the patient’s arm and back have to be fully supported to get the most accurate reading (he shouldn’t be leaning forward holding his arm in midair).

Whoever this person is she should not be doing instructional videos on taking BP!

WOw you are an expert!!!!

hahahaha

The second reading is higher due to the fact that we have taken two blood pressure readings in quick succession.

Optimal BP is anything up to 120/80.
Normal is 120-129/80-84.
High normal range is 130-139/85-89.

So on the second reading, Toms BP is still within normal range but due to the reasons stated above it has moved into the high normal range.

137 is too high. 118 is more believable for him.

At 1:27 She said normal is up to 120 but then at 1:36 she said 137 “is still normal.”

Why such a big difference in Blood Pressure between the Manual Cuff and the Automatic Machine?
