mduft58, the reason this technique is more complicated is because there’s a “needle” on the string that doesn’t move. Only the left one goes around the right one. It’s safer for surgical purposes.

That was the most complicated method of tying a square knot that I have ever seen!! Take the ends in your hands and start by right end over left, then left end over right, done!! Right over Left, Left over Right,that’s all!
