No Scalpel Vasectomy – Part 2
By
Description: The “No-Scalpel” technique is a technique to do the vasectomy thru one single puncture. This puncture is made into the scrotum and requires no suturing or stitches. It represents a significant improvement over conventional vasectomy techniques in that it is less traumatic and shortens recovery time. This procedure is done with the aid of a local anesthetic called “Xylocaine” (similar to “Novocaine”). The actual interruption of the vas which is done with the technique is identical to the …

They numb you locally down there with the same kind of stuff the dentist numbs your teeth with. You don’t feel anything and mine was over in 15 minutes. Go for it man! The wife has to help you clear the pipes after wards over and over
She’ll be hard at work for a few weeks.

They gave me 3 (SP?) Vallume pills and that helped calm the nerves. The crazy part was he had the theme song to “top gun” playing in the background while doing it….. haha

Mine cost 800 bucks but well worth it! I had no pain after wards or swelling. Took only 1 day off work and didn’t even need to.

I’ve done vasectomies for 30 years, these instruments make it easy to do through a small incision, but even before my single midline incision was small and minimal swelling was the norm. Removal of a segment is not universal and technique of interruption- suture, cautery, interposition of tissues- varies- the instruments (an anaesthesia!) are the key. For youtube this is good, for operator technique more reading/video would be benficial.

Are you serious $20?…wow you have one helluva health insurance plan. I was looking it up and without insurance it ranges between $800-$1,400.

I had the same procedure done. It took twenty minutes, cost me $20.00(great insurance policy), and I walked out with no problem. I had to take extra strength tylenol for about a three days, and take it easy physically for a couple of days.(I was smart in that I had the procedure done on Friday afternoon, so I had Saturday, and Sunday off.) Then I don’t have to worry about having anymore kids!!
If anyone is considering a vasectomy, get this type(no scalpel), verses the other more invasive type.

2nd kid on the way and I am thinking of having the procedure done.
I know he can’t feel anything…but it must be an uncomfortable feeling having someone poking around in your scrotum and tugging a piece of vas out.
