would you say the same about physicians you idiot because the prescribe drugs too infact thats their main duty

2

Just so everyone knows, this guy is completely wrong.
1) A 3.5 GPA is what most med schools consider to be competitive.
2) He also didn’t mention any undergrad counseling courses that you may want to consider taking.
3) The med school prerequisites are 1 (not 2) year of biology, 1 year of general chemistry, 1 year of organic chemistry, calculus 1 and 2 (or calc 1 and a generally strong foundation in math, such as a minor in it), and physics 1 and 2. Don’t listen to this tool.

how to b a phychiatrist : patronize and talk down to ur clients, buy a suit and a clipboard and remember to never under any circumstances help the patient

4

King, I agree. I am also studying to be a psychiatrist for identical reasons. We will be “the black sheep” of what they are known for. Glad to know there are people out there on the same page.

5

its all in the doctor and how he/she treats their patients.

I do agree that most of them are pill pushers. I was forced to see many many when i was a child and i was perscribed many meds that did nothing but harm to my system.

I personally hate these doctors…….well at least i did.

Now I am thinking about becoming one myself and treating people the way they should be, not just med up and tossed about

6

I’m studying to be a Psychiatrist… And the reason I chose to do this is because I am fascinated with the way the mind functions. Secondly, because I look around and I see so many people being diagnosed with mental disorders… I don’t understand why this has become an epidemic. I want to contribute in the reducing these numbers. I have hope that it is just corruption within the field, and people really aren’t sick. I want to help those who really need it. So.. please don’t crucify all of us.

Man, psych’s get such a bad rap. When I was in residency (neurology), I thought psych residents were very “off.” Looking back during med school, I could never, ever tell if psychiatrists were “off” because of being psychiatrists, or they were “off” to start with and gravitated toward psychiatry (or psychology). Thoughts!?!

8

I don’t like psychiatrists. I think they are “pill-pushers”.

Psychiatrists do not intend to cause deliberate harm to their patients but many of them do indirect damage nonetheless.

Psychology is like taking a broken arm, bandaging it up, and letting it heal over a period of time….

Psychiatry is similar to someone merely glancing at the arm and prescribing Hydrocodone.

Most perceive Psychiatry as nothing but a “quick fix”.

Smart punk in a suit.

Sits and collects money per hour!
The sicker you are, the more he collects!

When you start “visiting” Mr. Shrink, he will convince you to go more often… You will have to go as often as he wants and pay him as much as he wants.
All these shrinks are interested in is money.
Patients have to be sick forever and go to them for as many years as they resits in order to fill them up with cash.
The interest of a shrink is to lengthen the period of treatment and make much cash!

16

“hi,heres how to become a psychiatrist, get degree, get patients, drug them up to make them happy so I can collect your $200 an hour,if you can’t pay or have insurance,we don’t want you here nor do we give a rats ass. Also,to be a psychiatrist, get invovled in the False Memory Syndrom movement so when a patient comes in,tells u they remember abuse, you can tell them it didn’t happen,is one of our 3 common diagn, schizo, effective or bipolar, you’re crazy, making up memories.”

Fuck u psyche doc quacks!

17

Why does everyone hate psychiatrists? Not everyone of them is trying to kill you.

18

So much hatred towards psychiatry in general. I once visited a psychiatrist, and she accidentally overdosed me on lithium. Yet, she still had a medical doctors degree. Quite baffling, even if I’m interested in the subject, though it garners too much hate for me to consider it.

19

A psychiatrist is usually an MD who is too lazy, incompetent or stupid to practice real medicine.
Be honest.
Psychiatry is a pseudo science that specializes in pushing dangerous cytotoxic drugs on vulnerable human beings to make easy money.
Google Dr. Peter Breggin.

20

Psychiatry killllllllsssss!!!!!!!!!!people do not become a murderer!!!!!
please don’t be blind…

21

Psychiatry offers much insight into the blind gullibility of many. Psychiatry is little more than a business; that is, a way to make an easy profit.

22

why then after all of that do the shrinks just ignore the patinets forget evrything thev learned nd just right up tv drugs?

45 patients in 45min close at 3 open at 1130

23

rhinoceros9, I think I could say that it is the majority of the people in the US and abroad who are the actual bipolars because they made stupid financial decisions that destroyed the world economy, and someone like me, knew better the whole time. I even told the banks back in 2007 that it was unethical to offer Adjustable Rate Mortgages and they tried to talk me into one. So I am definitely in the minority, and I am proud of my individuality.

24

Furthermore, I am NOT depressed.
I am full of life, with goals to accomplish and a full time job on top of that. You on the other hand haven’t even seem to have succeeded yet if you are still searching for a career. I already have my career plus several others and many hobbies on top of all that.

25

If you had even read the drug side effects you would “KNOW” that it is a fact that I have stated the side effects and it is not an OPINION. And you don’t know how to label anyone. If I wanted to be as obnoxious as the shrinks I would call you a Nazi with a vulgar speech disorder–or should I just say you are a part of Nami–Nazis Alliance for Mainstream Indoctronation, Nazis against molested Inidviduals, and Nazis Against MINORITY INDIVIDUALs, and no, I was never labeled bipolar FYI.
