Is universal health care really as easy and pleasurable as Michael Moore describes it?

By Editor

Question: Just finished watching the movie ‘Sicko’ and I was shocked of what I learned, but at the same time I’ve heard that Moore is notorious for twisting up facts to serve his own needs and make his point. I’ve also heard some testimony from Canadians and Brits that universal heath care isn’t always as Moore paints it.

While I love the idea od universal health care, is there a catch to it?

It’s great to see people like Michael Moore bringing to light a lot of things that we aren’t aware of that affect us on a daily basis. But it all comes down to being informed – sometimes difficult with the internet as there is so much info out there. You may wish to check out the website below for more info in this regard. Phillip Day has some fascinating insights and a lot of interesting facts.

You are right; seek and ye shall find! Canadians have to wait months and even years to see a specialist; most of them die waiting. The ones that can afford it go overseas to get the care they need. Here in the U.S., if you don’t have coverage, you’re screwed!

In an ideal world it would be fantastic.
However in our world you get usually what you pay for.
When a government decides and price fixes healthcare; doctors will no longer come from the top of schools or students.
So usually “excellent care” will be the first victim
Next if the new universal system is free, it will be inundated by ordinary ailments that otherwise belong at home with OTC meds.
So long waits and lines everywhere; just wait for your turn.

So then “access to care” will be the second victim.

And so on….
