I got a prescription for my eyes… now what?
By
Question: I got a prescription for glasses and contacts from the optical center at wal-mart. Can I now goto any eye care place to get glasses and contacts or do I have to go back to wal mart’s vision center to get my glasses/contacts? I wanted to goto lens crafters since I will be in the mall. Is it okay if I do or do I need to get another exam just to get my glasses/contacts from there?

You are able to take your prescription to any eyecare location and receive the products that you are looking for, so if Lenscrafters is your choice, just make sure to take your prescription with you. It might benefit to actually make a copy of it, as they will need one to keep in store.

As long as you have a prescription you can go anywhere to get glasses without an exam.

If you have a prescription anyone should be able to fill it.

You can take your perscription where ever you want. Just make sure they (the optical) make a copy of your rx, and you keep the original for your records.

You can take your prescription to any place that dispenses glasses. They must honor it if it is under one year old.

Well hun the prescription is your property…and you can choose to fill it wherever you would like!!! Never feel obligated to get it filled by the same place that gave you the exam! In the case of contact lenses it will be best to have your follow up appointments with the same professional that originally fit your contacts for consistency. As for buying the contact lenses you can buy them in any optical that carries your type of contacts as long as you have a valid prescription

Walmart does give written prescription. I just went to a place in March that wanted me to buy contacts from them (a family vision center in town), and after a near-fight they gave me my written prescription! Now I go to Walmart for my prescriptions, they’re so nice about it. You can even take the prescription and buy glasses online, like glassesonweb.com.

You can go to anywhere you want that makes glasses once you get the prescription. You could possible go back to Wal-mart if you want it to be made there or even Lenscrafters if theat fancies you. I actually went to another eye doctor place in another city and I personally found one that looked nice on me and suited my style: rectangular lenses, not too large, not too small, black (there was frames and it was rimmed around the lens although I really like the ones without), and there wasnt any fancy stuff on it except for a plastic around the metal on the tips all the way to the lens. Apparrently, it was 95 dollars. Be sure you can afford glasses style you like. Anyways, there are Eyemasters, Best American Glasses, and tons of other stores too. Good luck!
