How long after open abdominal surgery are your calorie needs greater because you’re recovering?

By Editor

Question: I had a a right colectomy to remove an intestinal blockage due to volulus, and then a colon resection (terminal ileum to ascending colon).
I had surgery 7 weeks ago and I was on a calorie restricted diet before, and I was wondering when I could go back to my diet without impeeding my recovery.
