Does volunteer clinical experience in veterinary medicine influence medical school applications?

By Editor

Question: Until recently I only intended to go to Medical school to be an MD. However, I have begun to think that I would like to be apply for Veterinary school aswell. I am beginning to volunteer at a veterinary clinic with the intention of applying to veterinary school. Honestly I would be interested in going to either and I have the test scores and grades for each but no clinical experience. I am curious if the clinical experience at a vet clinic will carry any weight if applying for an MD program? Any help would be appreciated.

As an extra curricular it might be useful, but it won’t be considered clinical experience. That requires patients and preferably doctors to be present.
