Does beta blockers work pretty good?
By
Question: Beta blockers is typically for a patient with high blood pressure but also well known for performers who have stage fright or people who get nervous and have severe shaking, sweating, trembling etc…
I will need it for stage fright.
I am going to visit my psychiactric doctor and would like to suggest that I take them. I have high anxiety and fast heart rate and sometimes pass out from stage fright or giving presentations in front of a group.
Thanks!

Beta Blockers are not your best choice. Sounds like you might need something more along the lines of anti-anxiety medications. Beta Blockers are generally used for high blood pressure (hypertension) and cardiac disrythmias. You are right that they can be used for control of tremors and tachycardia (fast heart rate) as symptomatic relief, and your psychiatrist would know much better than me, however beta blockers are generally used for chronic conditions as a daily medication.

Beta blockers are usually given to people who have experienced heart attacks. The purpose is to prevent a second heart attack.
