Do you have any good ideas on health care improvement?

By Editor

Question: Come on, let’s get real here folks.
Let’s show these idiots in Washington that we’re not the right wing, left wing, talking end table type folks that they think we are !!!
Let’s come up with some REAL ideas on what should be done, or at least give them a GOOD starting point for fixing this thing !!!

My ideas are….
Why not try two simple things that will have GREAT immediate and long lasting effects on BOTH the US Economy and every taxpaying citizen. and others that unfortunately aren’t working at this time.
As most of us have thought about and maybe we’ve even uttered it a time or two in the past. ” I pay over $300 per month for health insurance, each and every month, yet before they insurance company will pay ONE RED CENT, they require me to meet a $ 2,500 ( OUT OF MY POCKET) deductible ! WHAT !!!
So, come on, haven’t we all had our ‘mad as hell and we’re not gonna take it anymore. moments???
Here are a few ideas that I am pondering.
Please post yours as well, or improve mine !!!
Either way, LET”S DO IT !!!
I am hoping that many of us post/ASK this question, over and over, until we finally come up with something that benefits US !!!
So take these ideas and RUN !!!
Or post that you agree or WHY you disagree ?
Just put your own thoughts down, not a generated media hyped, government approved answer, YOURS !!!
Ok,
1) For starters. NO MORE required deductible that must be met before coverage begins !!!

2) At the end of the year, your insurer will be required to give you a statement that shows how much you paid in premiums for the entire year. They will also show how the money that they collected has grown (at a moderate rate of interest). They must also show the totals of $$$ that they spent covering your medical costs.
This is where it gets interesting. We realize that some money was spent keeping our records and paying claims.Let the insurance companies keep 33% of the money we were charged. After all, they have to show a profit to sustain their business. So WE get an insurance return of 66% of what was collected for that year, provided we met all the criteria !!! We’re not getting something for nothing, just getting a rebate for OVER PAYMENT !!!

3) ALL medical expenses are deductible (no minimum required)
Everything we paid for coverage, meds, emergency room care, general care, eye check-ups etc.,, band aids,
EVERYTHING !!!
This credit available to ALL, even those that don’t itemize or own a home !!!

4)Be looser with the term eligible dependent !!!
Some parents may be helping their young adult children out by bearing some of the expenses that they need help with for their children. Many times paying for food, clothing and sometimes medical expenses, or other unexpected expenses. Create some category for these cases…just a thought…

Please take this serious…
If you have anything, LET’S hear it !
Some great ideas !!!
Keep em coming…
The account thing sounds like a winner
No refusals for pre existing conditions ! Yes !
Diva I agree …I had a doctor get real pissed at me last week because he didn’t like the price he was charged with a plumbing repair!
He said that he knows another plumber that would have charged much less and that this would be the amount that he would consider fair !!! LMAO
I told him that he made the choice to call me, and that his attempted repair (before I arrived on the scene) was the cause of the high bill…I also said that he must think it’s ok for his patients to pay, what they considered a fair office call charge ! He of course thought that this was a stupid idea and couldn’t be applied in his case..what a friggin moron !
Thanks

Health Savings Accounts and Tort Reform.

Start when you are young and instead of paying for health insurance you and your employer pay into your Health Savings Account. Then you buy catastrophic insurance for severe cases, and the rest you pay for from your Health Account. You shop for the best doctor and the best price and that creates competition.

You keep yourself healthy and your money is yours to keep or pass on to your family.

Now look at the cosmetic surgery field, no government or insurance, just a free market with huge innovations and competition, which has made it possible for even welfare moms to afford breast enhancement surgery.

2

Tort Reform needs to be number one.
Allow health insurance to be purchased across state lines
Don’t allow insurance companies to turn down a person because of health problems. (This will probably result in increases in rates but hopefully the first two items will take care of that)
More preventative health care

Good ideas

I like the idea of making insurance expences can be a deductable for those of us that pay income taxes.

Or give a $3000/ credit per person ($6000 max/Family) for people who pay for their own health insurance. This will incourage people to get it.

Can you imagine how the unemployment rate will rise if the government health care plan goes into effect..all the existing independent insurance companies will have gone under and no one will have a job..

I think healthcare could be affordable if doctors didn’t have such ridiculous rates. When you go to one for something simple and they see you for 2 minutes and charge you $200..if they see 7 people in an hr they are raking in the bucks.

perfect example..my kid needed to go to doc on fri but couldn’t get in til this monday.she was fine monday so I called in am to cancel pm appt..they said NO you will get billed if you cancel..so I went and WASTED the doctors time and mine and instead of having a check up we discussed unneccessary bills to insurance companies when one cannot cancel their appt..and how other people could of filled the spot..its almost on their part insurance fraud.

How about – Eat healthy, excercise, get regular checkups…..TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!!!!

If the government approves universal health care I think that the government should focus primarily on preventative health care and wellness. Any extended health needs should be handled by private health care companies but they should not be able to turn anyone away.

Being an immigrant here from India, I feel the health care very expensive. Why would some medicine with same ingredients cost far more here? Why the government is allowing the pharmacy industry to charge huge? Even a very simple eye drops cost me $20 which could be bought in india for a dollar. Who’s fixing up these prices?

Also the doctors charge a huge sum of money from people for even minor surgeries. Who’s behind this? If the govt control these charges, will the medical insurance companies lower their charges and ultimately people here find health care more affordable .

And most doctors here are money oriented, I don’t see any service minded or dedicated ones.
