Do Only Canada and Britain Have Universal Health Care?

By Editor

Question: Because, if you listen to right-wing radio, you would get the impression that only those two nations have universal health care, or “socialized medicine.” We hear all the time about the defects in those sysems, but so rarely do we hear about health care in Australia, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Israel, France, Spain, Luxembourg, Ireland, Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland. Why is that?

Belize has universal health care. I was there in February. Their hospital looked like 3 double wide trailers welded together.

The answer you are going to get is:
“Cuz dem is backwoods commie countryzs, I care about america i dunt want none socialist dicatatrs”

The real answer is: Right wing radio is extremely corrupt and wrong, also because UHC is not bad it is much, much, much, better than what USA has now.

because those two are the closest to us. to be honest, out of all the countries i’ve been to, saudi has the best, but then again, their one of the richest !!!!!

You’re listing to the wrong radio stations…. For example the National Socialist had a universal health care system.. Pay attention

Canada & the UK are the only countries that are comparable to the US in terms of health care and it would be too time consuming to list every country every time you spoke of it.Only the US and to a lesser extent the UK has a considerable illegal immigration problem to factor in to the health care equation.(Millions of Mexicans are streaming into the US for us to take care of them,Japan,Sweden,& the other countries do not have millions of unproductive people swarming into their countries looking for free services) Also the mortality rate from most cancers is about 23% higher in the UK & Canada because of they way care is rationed. Is that really what you want here?

No, it wouldn’t serve their purpose to admit that we lag so far behind all those other countries in health care. Conservatives also said that Stephen Hawking would be dead if he had had to rely on British health care. Of course he lives in England and says their health care has kept him alive. Thanks to the neocons for inadvertently helping to point out how good universal health care is.

I do not listen to right wing radio or TV. I do medical translations and am thoroughly familiar with the Health Care Systems in other countries.
They work extremely well. Perfect they are not. Nothing ever is. But it can be said that when problems are repeated, the People insist on change and changes take place quite frequently and quickly. Not like here where the Politicians do a lot of grandstanding before they ever look at a problem in depth.

Under the systems in other developed countries, preventive Medicine is practiced widely and truly extremely beneficial.

I abhor the Politicians here wanting to deny us what they have had for
ever. They have to pay a laughable amount for their care whereas where are
bleeding to death, paying for ours..
