considering subtotal colectomy?
ByQuestion: I am told that if I chose this surgery they will remove the ascending, transverse, descending, sigmoid and cecum. Is this correct and what advise or information can anyone give on recovery expectations and recovery time?

This is a huge operation and it will take many months to recover. I had just 1 foot of colon removed and full recovery took 1 year. I’m not young though. You should be addressing your questions regarding what’s going to be removed to your surgeon. I hope that you recover more quickly than I.
