With clonidine the dose is so extremely low I doubt that it would show up, but there is another issue to consider. Clonidine cuts down on what is called 'sympathetic outflow', which is the nerve tone that keeps blood pressure up. If you continously take the medicine, then suddenly stop you risk a rebound effect of very high blood pressure, that could lead to a busted blood vessel in the brain. Lately doctors have been adding clonidine to amphetamine type drug treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder to improve sleep. That seems like a dangerous practice, since the withdrawal effects of clonidine would be mixed with the blood pressure effects of amphetamines.
