By
Question: My friend gave me some to help me sleep and to lower my heart rate the other day. Now i am concerned that my docotor will see it in my urine screening. I get suboxone and i only used the clonidine to help sleep, not klonipin either clonidine, the blood pressure med is what my friend gave me. I dont want to lose my suboxone over something stupid. thanks everyone. Please only answer if you are certain.

There are many non-controlled drugs that they usually include in a test in order to help screen out false positives.
With clonidine the dose is so extremely low I doubt that it would show up, but there is another issue to consider.
Clonidine cuts down on what is called ’sympathetic outflow’, which is the nerve tone that keeps blood pressure up. If you continously take the medicine, then suddenly stop you risk a rebound effect of very high blood pressure, that could lead to a busted blood vessel in the brain.
Lately doctors have been adding clonidine to amphetamine type drug treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder to improve sleep. That seems like a dangerous practice, since the withdrawal effects of clonidine would be mixed with the blood pressure effects of amphetamines.

yes -just present the prescription bottle in your name & you won’t have a problem.
