The Forest Snow
Oh how the peaceful forest rests,
Under a spell, an enchantment of tunes,
As the trees creek softly back and forth,
And the mocking bird sings its sweet song,
As the pure blanket of snow covers the forest whole,
With a windy chill and gentle flow,
The cotton snow continues to peacefully blow,
Gently tucking in upon the earth,
Falling as if angels’ feathers from heaven above,
Virgin territory,
Fresh and pure,
Untouched and beautiful,
No soul dare touch,
So delicate and fresh,
Like a diamond in the rough,
Light streams round about,
Bursting through the sleepy tree branches,
Sparkling like the far stretched seas,
Glistening like a little one’s deep blue eyes,
Yet gentle and rich, like a brown eyed dream,
For as early as the hunter may rise,
Guilt is sure to be on his mind,
For that first step he takes upon sacred ground,
Is a step into a sense of enchantment,
Like dream,
Peaceful and clear,
Yet somehow in a daze.
2.
Winter Breaks
The sun comes up,
The night is gone,
Trees breathe life,
As the chill loosens its grasp,
Finally! Warmth is the air,
Not so long now, till spring is here,
Winter will enjoy its lengthy break,
It will rest, and not come back,
Till Christmas time is almost here,
Flowers will bloom,
The rain will pour,
Green buds will burst forth,
Butterflies will flutter graciously about,
As children reach up giggling,
Trying to catch up with their where a bouts
Oh what spring time joy!
3.
Front Porch Lemonade
The creek beneath my feet,
As I try to escape this harsh summer heat,
The gentle rocking of an old porch chair,
As I slowly slip into daze like ease,
Pressing a cold glass to my lips,
I take sip of that wonderful, sweet retreat,
Lemonade, my summer’s day treat,
Soft and chilled,
Like a fresh snow flake,
Calming yellow,
As if meant to be mental condenser,
I cherish these lovely, rich days,
When the good old times seem here to stay
As the heavy sun slowly disappears,
And the crickets come and play their percussion instruments,
Relaxation as high as it could be
Oh how I love that front porch lemonade!
4.
Strawberries
So sweet and fruitful,
Luscious and red,
So soft and full of life
Like a child playing with a red balloon,
The tasty smell,
So pleasing to smell,
A gentle tingling,
Like a feather to the nose,
Popping in color,
As it grows out of dark, green vines
A delight to the human eye,
The precious memories,
Of Warm summer days,
When a little child,
With a woven spun basket,
And a baby blue bonnet,
Reach out and pluck,
With its small, chubby fingers,
The delightful eye popper,
Of fresh grown strawberries
Oh what childhood joy!
5.
Gravel
The crunch of a homecoming,
The noise of the night,
The sound of a warm, fall day,
Walking in the forests by night,
A simple, familiar noise,
Of the crinkle of the road less traveled on,
Gravel,
An old time acquaintance
6.
Spring Days
Oh how I crave those luscious, still days,
With blue birds singing,
Bright flowers blooming,
The dark, moist smell of soil,
A feeling of renewal,
The season of colors,
So fresh and soft,
Like a newborn baby.
The trees are bursting forth,
Green buds of shade,
And crisp blades of grass,
Carpet upon the earth once more,
The air so fresh,
It’s truly rejuvenating,
Warm and soft,
And ever so inviting,
How long must I wait,
For those beautiful spring days,
When the world is reborn,
And awaken to a new year.

Warm Summer Days
Oh, how I miss those warm summer days,
When all the world is so off pace,
And lazy days go by and by,
While the sun hangs lowly in the sky,
I lay down slowly on the luscious green,
As the hot sun casts a spell upon me,
Its green-texture cool and crisp,
Like a freshly turned pillow beneath my head,
As a gentle breeze puts me at ease,
All the days troubles swiftly drift away,
Wild Flowers brush against my face,
With colors so full and fresh,
As if coming from an artist’s canvas,
The sweet aroma putting me to sleep,
Almost like in a timeless dream,
Bees buzzing and lawn mowers humming,
Fresh cut grass and barefooted children,
Butterflies fluttering and tree leaves dancing,
All tell me to lay down and stay,
And just to enjoy this warm summer daze,
Stay and lay,
For just a little bit longer….

The Enchantment of the Night
Have you ever walked in the midst of the dark?
Do you know the enchantment of this different world?
The bright summer stars,
Wink at me,
Almost as though they are flirting with me,
I look up to them,
As a nightingale sings sweetly to its lover,
The bright, glowing moon, illuminates the earth below,
I lo

I love the Gravel one, short but beautiful.
The night one was pretty good too.

My favorite is Emily Dickinson:
I never saw a moor,
I never saw the sea;
Yet know I how the heather looks,
And what a wave must be.
I never spoke with God,
Nor visited in heaven;
Yet certain am I of the spot
As if the chart were given.
