can you believe this true story about health insurance rip off?

By Editor

Question: to insure my family of 3 me and my employer combines pay over $15,000 a year for plan that is not even close to a cadillac plan. As fas as coverage, I would say, I have had better in the past and would classify it as average coverage.

I got my new health insurance care in the mail a couple months back and this was my first experience using it. I needed to get an eye exam and pair of glasses. I was horrified to learn that basically the only vision coverage I had was basically a discount coverage. I actually would have paid more for my eye test and lens and frames if I had used the coverage, then using the normal discount that the optical shop was offering to people not using insurance.

Thats right…For $15,000 a year, when I went to get an eye exam and glasses, I actually found that my coverage was worthless.
i forgot to say..while I was there I saw a lady getting glasses for her kid and I overheard her copay for glasses was $10..
i think my point was for $15,000 a year, you would think you should have better coverage. I have had insurance in past where you actually had a free exam once a year and where they would have like a $10 copay. nOw it seems you pay more and get less.

How about that! Mine doesn’t pay for glasses either. You’re point?

what’s the complaint–you expect free glasses? This isn’t a rip off at all. Do you realize that health care insurance is supposed to cover catastrophic events. People want everything covered so it doesn’t cost a dime to go to the doc or get vision tested–to bad–I’ve bought my own glasses for 50 years.

Sad but true.

Your money goes to help feed, clothe, and shelter poor helpless insurance company executives as they slave over hot coals (in a sauna) trying to come up with new ways to get you to pay more for less.

Have you no heart?
Think of the CHILDREN!

it is getting rediculous…

more and more people can’t afford plans… and the new plans are hardly worth having unless you have a catastrophic illness… (which then they just drop you)

for 15k… the optomitrist should come to his house and give him gold plated glasses…

do Republicans know how much 15k is and how much you SHOULD get for that much?

EDIT: and he states, he DOES have vision coverage… people…

It’s health insurance….medical…not vision. If you want vision, you have to have a separate policy or add it to your group plan. Also, have your agent shop the market every year for the best rate possible. That’s what their job is. If you don’t have an agent…get one! It costs you nothing!

Unless you have cataracts or glaucoma you can find ads in most local papers for eye tests for $35 and two pairs of single vision glasses for $100 and bi or multifocals for probably $50 more.

I know of few plans that would cover simple testing and glasses.

they dont make incredible profits by paying out on claims now do they? its just common sense.

i agree, there is a problem with health insurance. maybe the ins. co. need to be kicked a little, they hog the profits and deny claims, thats true.
but i don’t think having the government decide my health car is the answer. i think there should be some limits on ins. co. fraud and cheating is one of the main culprits.
i have been in some of these doctors houses, boy you talk about big bucks, one doc in my town has a house that cost 1million- 6800 sq ft.
four people live there- you tell me , is that one reason for the cost of health care. greed, i think thats what they call it.

well if you worked hard enough you’d have better healthcare. if you’re out of college and highschool you need to man or women up n pay more. what’s the rest of your family doing milking off of your plan anyways? no wonder it’s expensive they should go to college get degrees quit being losers and by there own plan

Thats because health insurance companies used to pay out 90% of what they brought in 10 years ago. Now with higher ceo pay the only dole out 80% of what they bring in. The sytem is as corrupt as corporate America.
