Yes, we intend it to last for life. If the implant is on the bridge only, then you do not need to do anything more. In some cases, if the implant was placed along the tip of the nose, the skin can thin out, requiring protection of the skin. I do not use that type of implant in order to avoid anything more than one surgery if at all possible.

Hi Dr. Lee,
how long are the results of rhinoplasty intended to last? Is it typically for life?

Thank you for the nice comment.

Most patients only need plain tylenol the first night after surgery and then nothing after that. Most people would put the discomfort level at 1 or 2 on a scale of 10.

They usually heal well. They look red for a few months and then turn into a white line. This can take 6-12 months, and continue to fade over time.

Doctor i have a question. Will the scars from the nostril reduction fade away soon.I heard it takes years for it to disappear?.Thank you so much!

Cartilage from the ears can work well at the tip. Some surgeons also use it for the bridge. It depends on the surgeon’s preference and your nose.

The best chances that your nose will return to the preop state is if the implant was in there less than two years and if the nose was not drastically altered with surgery. The thicker the implant, the more likely some changes will have occured.

Dr Lee, my question is..lets say i had nasal implant and unhappy with it, if i undergo nasal implant removal ..is my nose gonna return to its pre op state ..and how long my nose gonna be swollen?

Dr. Lee, what about rhinoplasty using cartilage from the ears? is it better? will it give you more naturals looks? after rhinoplasty can i engage into activies like sport?

You need to discuss this with your doctor and I can only answer in general, as I am not your doctor, but a lump often is a blood clot that will dissolve over a month or two. Recovery will sometimes involve stiffness, depending on how extensive theprocedure was. However, you need to discuss with your own doctor, as I cannot give medical advice about a specific condition over the internet.

how long will it take to see results from buccal fat removal and what’s the recovery time?
it’s been a month since my buccal fat removal and there seems to be a small hard lump in my cheeks till date and some days my cheek feels stiff
is it normal or am i not recovering properly?

No, I prefer to use natural tissue in the tip area to raise it. Using an implant for the bridge and extending it to the tip will thin out the skin at the tip and cause skin damage.
January 6th, 2010 at 10:33 am
Dr. Lee. Does heighten the nose bridge also raise the tip? Thanks a lot again. : )

Most people take one week off work. It will look acceptable at that point in most cases.
January 6th, 2010 at 11:23 am
hi dr lee…my question is how long my nose gonna be swollen after i had a nose job?
January 6th, 2010 at 12:04 pm
@CryBearARiver
bridge work will not affect the nostrils. Raising the tip will subtly change your nostril shape.

Dr Lee, I’ve go a question for you…. If I only wanted to have my nose bridge heighten by a closed rhinoplasty. Will that affect the size or the shape of my nostrils? I do not want to have a nostril reduction as it will leave scars on it but I just want a subtle change (looks smaller) to my nostrils.

Most people spend four to five days in the area.
